Care with learning

Antibiotics have saved millions of lives, but we have taken them for granted. We need concerted action to prevent our world from going back to the pre-antibiotic era.

About ReAct

Who we are

ReAct - Action on Antibiotic Resistance links a wide range of individuals, organisations and networks around the world taking concerted action to respond to antibiotic resistance.

"Our vision is that current and future generations of people around the globe will have access to effective treatment of bacterial infections."

ReAct has an international secretariat with representatives from different parts of the world holding various key functions within the organisation and two senior external advisors for continuous input in our strategy development.

ReAct is presently hosted by Uppsala University with an administrative office for Overall Coordination and Management in Uppsala.

What we do

ReAct´s objectives are to:

  • Identify and facilitate removal of critical evidence gaps that block action to contain antibiotic resistance;
  • Develop strategic options to remove barriers to innovation of new antibiotics and diagnostics;
  • Advocate for better access to and use of effective and affordable antibiotics for those in need;
  • Promote global consensus for a new paradigm on the use of antibiotics; and
  • Increase awareness of antibiotic resistance as a threat to global public health and engage key stake holders in action.
